How we identify thE
right
student
Maatram Foundation, based in Chennai, is run by
experienced and skilled professionals for the past
8 years. It is a process-driven organization and the
people running the NGO work very hard to
understand students’ requirements and give them
the best possible future.
The entire process of interviewing and choosing
students is done by a robust process of collecting
data, verifying the same through volunteers, having a
face-to-face interview, and finally shortlisting
candidates for various educational institutions.
Programs
under Maatram
Santa Kids
Our kids create an army of Santas and teach children the joy of sharing, and help them spread the same to 100 more.
Build a Library
We've set up libraries in Government schools with basic logistics, books (both old and new) to spread the joy of reading and teaching in low-income areas of the city.
Career Counselling
Our alumni association visits government-aided schools and government schools and educates students about career opportunities. They speak about the importance of a college education and the courses that would suit them.
Maatram Centre for Excellence
This course is aimed at giving our students an additional advantage during the placement process with training in fundamental concepts, high-impact fields, and emerging technologies.
Opportunities for the
differently-abled
We help create a sustainable livelihood and provide career opportunities, and financial assistance for differently-abled students.
Emergency Relief
We mobilized resources and provided disaster relief and rehabilitation, for many families during several significant crises, including Cyclone Vardah, 2015 Chennai floods.

Confidentiality Of Beneficiaries
We believe that there has to be dignity in giving and hence the identity of the beneficiaries will always be protected. The details/photographs/videos of the Maatram beneficiaries will not be disclosed anywhere on our website, articles, promotional flyers, banners etc.,
Orphan Children
The first preference for the higher education program is given to Orphan kids since they do not have any support system to fall back on. Most often these children are dependant of the relatives/family friends who are unable to support their dream of higher education.
Single Parent Children
Preference for children who come from single parent families is given. In the low income society where there are lot of families losing the father due to alcoholism, debts etc, it becomes extremely difficult for the children to continue higher education. We believe the support provided will go a long way in the betterment of the entire family.
Girl Children
If you educate a woman, you educate a family, if you educate a girl, you educate the future. We believe Girls who get to dream and develop their character grow into vision-driven women, mothers and leaders who pass essential values and precious opportunity to the next generation. At Maatram, we truly believe in this with 80% of our beneficiaries being girl children.
