Maatram leads transformation in the lives of deserving underprivileged students by providing quality sponsored education, continuous skill development, world class exposure to solving real life challenges, getting them placement ready and by imbibing societal skills. In-turn the students get groomed to become the finest in the society.
A unique initiative of Maatram Foundation through which free higher education is given to deserving students from economically deprived background. Various educational institutions partnered with the Foundation give free admissions which included not just the tuition fees but also the transportation charges, hostel fees (wherever applicable), food expenses, books & stationery expenses. Students who had scored more than 85% but cannot afford to buy even an application form are identified and given quality education. After two levels of scrutiny which includes a visit to their neighbourhood an in-person interview is conducted to ensure no deserving kid is missed. Since the beginning of this project,
close to 950 students have been placed in 6 autonomous Universities, 30 engineering colleges, 5 Arts & Science Colleges, 2 Medical Colleges and 1 professional course. Post their admission to ensure, they are well inducted into their new life style, Mentors are assigned for students who work with them for continuous assessment and support. Students are also offered various soft skill trainings as well as employability training programs during this period to make them industry ready. A certification program through our Maatram Centre of Excellence has been established where our students are exposed to external technical certifications.
We believe that there has to be dignity in giving and hence the identity of the beneficiaries will always be protected. The details/photographs/videos of the Maatram beneficiaries will not be disclosed anywhere on our website, articles, promotional flyers, banners etc.,
The first preference for the higher education program is given to Orphan kids since they do not have any support system to fall back on. Most often these children are at the mercy of the relatives/family friends who are unable to support their dream of higher education.
Preference for children who come from single parent families is given. In the low income society where there are lot of families losing the father due to alcoholism, debts etc, it becomes extremely difficult for the children to continue higher education. We believe the support provided will go a long way in the betterment of the entire family.
If you educate a woman, you educate a family, if you educate a girl, you educate the future. We believe Girls who get to dream and develop their character grow into vision-driven women, mothers and leaders who pass essential values and precious opportunity to the next generation. At Maatram, we truly believe in this with 80% of our beneficiaries being girl children.
We do not actively seek public donations for the Foundation. We believe that to help someone, we do not need money alone. The most important aspect is the INTENT to help and if we put a strength to our cause the resources to accomplish it will follow. Hence we do not actively seek donations unless it is required for a very specific cause.
I always wondered how certain individuals encounter life changing moments through specific incidents in their lives…until I had my own…. and Maatram was born
